About Mr. Austin
Thanks for stopping by our website! My name is Kurt Austin and this will be my 28th year working for the Elk Grove Unified School District. I grew up in the Bay Area in a town called Belmont and graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Rhetoric & Communication. I earned my multiple subjects teaching credential and my single subject math credential at Sacramento State University. I have taught every elementary grade level except kindergarten and first over the years. I am one of the original teachers who helped to open Elliott Ranch. My wife, Debbie, is a high school counselor, and we have been married for 29 years. We have three adult sons: Shane, Matt, and Kevin. My interests include travel, swimming, refereeing youth soccer, riding my bike, playing board games, DISNEYLAND, reading both fiction and non-fiction, listening to a wide variety of music, playing with my dog, Boo (a Yorkie), going to musicals, working puzzles, and spending time with my wife and three sons. I am a big fan of the 49ers, the SF Giants, and the Kings. I'm still learning myself! I consider it a real privilege to teach. I can't wait to meet you--this is going to be an awesome year!
